Free School Camp Planning, we do the hard work for you.
Our experienced programs team collaborates with you to design a Melbourne based program specifically for your school. Activities include many of Melbourne’s great educational attractions and incorporate relevant essential learning areas for students (Victorian Curriculum). Our team are ready to share their Melbourne expertise to help plan your best camp yet.

Dormitories
Urban Camp caters for up to 138 guests over three air-conditioned accommodation areas. Our dormitory style rooms can sleep between four to ten guests.
All beds are fitted with mattress protectors and pillows, new mattresses have been installed in all dorm rooms. All you need to bring is a pillow case and a sleeping bag.
Leader Dorms
All designated leader dorms are fitted with innerspring mattresses for your comfort. Privacy curtains have been installed on the bottom bunks in these rooms and features some extra comforts including side tables and in-room tea and coffee station.
We understand that some groups have small numbers. The layout of Urban Camp allows us to accommodate smaller groups, making camps accessible and affordable. Minimum booking fees apply.

Urban Camp caters for a range of groups with special needs. All accommodation on the ground floor is wheelchair accessible. We have three accessible bathrooms (wheelchair accessible bathroom and toilet, open shower recess with seat). Staff can recommend accessibility equipment hire suppliers.

Our catering team has you covered in the kitchen with the management of all your groups special dietary requirements.

Urban Camp’s convenient location offers easy access to Melbourne’s thriving CBD. With three tram lines (Trams 57, 58 & 59) and train station (Royal Park station) a short walk away, we help you book group travel passes for a seamless commuting experience.
Arriving by bus/coach
You can pull up right outside the camp and park, for free, just a little further down Brens Drive. Schools must organise their own coach travel to and from camp.
Arriving at Southern Cross station
We can meet you at the station to collect your luggage. We then pack all your bags into our van and take them to camp, not before handing over your travel passes ready for your first adventure. We can also assist you with your return journey.
Group Travel Pass
Our programs team help to keep your public transport costs low while you commute.
We offer a ticket management service taking into account off-peak and free travel times for Victorian school groups. Talk to us about arranging your group travel pass. For up to date public transport timetable information and maps visit: PTV website
City Circle tram
Groups can travel free of charge on the City Circle tram. It is a great way to introduce students to some of Melbourne’s famous landmarks. More information is available on the PTV website.
Free tram zone
To make getting on and off trams in the city more efficient Melbourne has a Free Tram Zone. In this zone you can travel as much as you like at no cost, we can help you arrange free travel pass tickets.
Parking
Visitors are welcome to park in designated parking bays at the front of the Camp (if available) or in off-street parking nearby.

Join NASA’s GLOBE Goes to Camp
We are excited to offer NASA’s Globe Goes to Camp program.
Our staff have been trained by NASA to run engaging and interactive sessions. Schools will collect and upload real time data for analysis by NASA scientists. See more below and download the brochure.
Activities and games
Add extra fun to your stay by booking an onsite activities which include movie screenings with popcorn, karaoke sessions, trivia nights hosted by Urban Camp staff and team building activities or chose from a range of sporting equipment and games. See full list here. -
You will receive a full list of activities and destinations that take into account various curriculum needs and budgets. Once a selection has been made for your camp, we will tailor a program to both inspire your students and maximise your time in Melbourne. Our strong relationships with all of Melbourne’s major educational and entertainment venues help best coordinate your visit to each site.
