Guided Programs

 

Caring For Climate and Change

Cost: $200 / 1 hour session + booking fee (maximum group size is 30 students)

Curriculum: Science, Geography, Design & Technologies, Civics & Citizenship

Grade: 3-10

Outline: Join expert educators to understand the connection between energy production and climate change. Students will discover how electricity is generated, understand the impacts it has on climate change and the important role renewable energy plays, and discuss political and social solutions (systems change) to increase agency and empowerment in students. Educators will guide students through problem solving and action planning to create change within their school community and explore solutions to create change at school or home.

Through a variety of hands on activities your students will:

Years 3 – 10

  • Find out how human activity is impacting the earth’s atmosphere

  • Discover and engage with a range of innovative solutions to mitigate climate change

  • Learn about the different types of atmospheric pollutants

  • Feel empowered to make positive long-lasting change

Exploring Ecosystems

Cost: $200 / 1 hour session+ booking fee (maximum group size is 30 students)

Curriculum: Science, Geography and Sustainability 

Grade: 3-10

Outline: Hosted by expert educators, students will develop their understanding of living and nonliving things and the impacts of human activities on an ecosystem through hands-on activities. Educators will guide students through problem solving and action planning to create change within their school community and explore solutions to increase biodiversity at school or home.

Through this interactive virtual excursion your students will:

Years F – 2

  • learn about Australian animal features, habitats and life cycles

  • explore what an animal needs in its environment to survive

  • consider how humans can care for local ecosystems

  • explore connections between Indigenous Australians and the Australian landscape

Years 3 – 10

  • learn about and identify elements of a healthy ecosystem for a variety of organisms

  • explore scientific methods to measure and analyse their observation

  • consider how humans can care for local habitats and organisms

  • explore connections between Indigenous Australians and the native Australian landscape

Farming For Our Future

Outline: Join expert educators and explore the concepts of organic urban gardening. Discover where food comes from and how organic food systems connect to a healthy self, community and planet, and investigate the wondrous relationship between bees, bugs and soil. Educators will guide students through problem solving and action planning to create change within their school community and explore solutions to increase local food production at school or home.

Through this interactive virtual excursion your students will:

Years F-2

  • Find out where food comes from

  • Discover the wonderful world of bees, bugs and healthy soil

  • Learn about plant lifecycles and how to grow and care for plant

Years 3 – 10

  • Find out how industrial farming negatively impacts our landscape and wildlife

  • Discover organic and Indigenous farming practices

  • Learn about the key elements involved in regenerative farming practices

Towards Zero Waste

Outline: Join expert educators on a journey towards zero waste where students will explore the impacts of waste, discover solutions to reduce waste and demonstrate ways to turn waste into a valuable resource.  Educators will guide students through problem solving and action planning to create change within their school community and explore solutions to move towards zero waste at school or home.

Through this interactive virtual excursion your students will:

Years F-2

  • Find out how human activity contributes to waste pollution

  • Explore the 6R’s and you can engage with them day to day

  • Discover and engage with a range of exciting and creative waste solutions

  • Explore CERES’ waste recovery systems that are inspired by natures cycles

Years 3-10 

  • Find out how human activity contributes to waste pollution

  • Explore the concepts of ‘Take, Make, Dispose’ (linear economy) and circular economies

  • Discover and engage with a range of exciting and creative waste solutions (resource economy)

  • Explore CERES’ waste recovery systems that are inspired by natures cycles

Shadow Puppets

Cost: $200 / 1 hour session+ booking fee (maximum group size is 30 students)

Curriculum: Geography, Languages (Indonesian), The Arts (Drama and Personal and Social Capabilities). 

Grade: 3-10

Outline: Hosted by expert educators, your kids will learn how to create their own shadow puppet; and see a live performance of Wayang Kulit, among the best known puppet-shadow plays, offering a unique combination of lesson and entertainment. The term wayang is the Javanese word for “shadow” or “imagination”. In modern daily Javanese and Indonesian vocabulary, wayang can refer to the puppet itself or the whole puppet theatre performance. Kulit means “skin” or “leather”, the material from which the figures are carved.

Through this virtual excursion your students will:

  • learn to create their own shadow puppet

  • see a live performance of Wayang Kulit

Curriculum: Science, Design and Technologies, Critical and Creative Thinking, Literacy.

Grade: 3-6

Outline: In this activity CERES educators will take your students on a journey to discover the wonderful world of seeds and plant life cycles using videos and activities to follow. 

Bees Bees Native Bees - Biodiversity

Cost: Free

Curriculum: Science, Design and Technologies, Critical and Creative Thinking, Literacy. 

Grade: 3-6

Outline: Your students will take a closer look at Australian Native Bees and how we can protect their population and expand their habit with science games and videos.
